Meet Matthew (ok, you can just can him Matt).
As you might be able to tell, Matt is just a pretty regular guy. However, he’s got something great going for him. Jesus loved him so much that He died, was buried, and rose again so Matt might have eternal life. That is all you really need to know about Matt.
But it would not be any fun if that was all you knew.
Matt currently serves as a Director of Christian Education at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe, MN. Having served there for almost two years, he is still devoted to God’s calling in his life. Simply put, that calling is to reach. teach. love. as Christ first did. You can learn more about his philosophy to ministry and why he sums it up with reach. teach. love. in a differnet spot. Specifically, he serves as the Youth & Education Minister to a growing congregation. He is a partner in ministry with all those great people he gets to serve alongside. They are taking Glencoe, McLeod County and the surrounding areas by storm (metaphorically speaking) as they seek and serve the lost and hurting.
From a schooling side of things, Matt grew up in a suburb of Kansas City. Aside from preschool, he was a public school kid his whole life. He had an awesome, loving church family where he was exposed to many great pastors, mentors and friends that encouraged him to go into full-time ministry. After high school, he attended one of the greatest, little Christian universities in the world: Concordia University, Nebraska. After receiving a BA in Psychology and Director of Christian Education certification with an emphasis in Family Life Ministry, he completed a year long internship in a southern suburb of Indianapolis, IN. This rich experience led him to going through the Divine Call process of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. As God saw fit, Matt and his wife were Called to serve at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He is currently pursuing a MS in Family Life and a MA in Gerontology through Concordia University, Nebraska.
These exciting educational endeavors have only further instilled a passion and desire to take the Gospel to all the nations. Matt is an avid reader, blogger, and study-er and loves to talk to youth, adults, and almost anyone who might be somewhat interested.
Matt is married to his lovely wife Lise (pronounced like Lisa) and they have a couple of wild cats. They reside in Glencoe and kind of like the peace and quite of a small, rural town. However, you will find them floating around the Twin Cities on a regular basis! Lise serves as a Lutheran elementary school teacher (4th grade and music) and helps out with lots of stuff at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, too.
